Bus from Munich to Croatia

Year around there are daily bus departure from between Munich and Croatia, then most popular route is the one from Munich to Zagreb. In Munich the buses departure from the new and modern ZOB am Hackerbrucke, the official address for the bus station is Arnulfstraße 21. Inside the bus station there is whole range of shops like e.g. a LIDL supermarket, several banks, a post office and plenty of places serving food and drinks. As the station is quite overwhelming we recommend that you get there 20-30 minutes before your bus departures, so you have time to locate your bus.

How to get to the ZOB am Hackerbrucke? 

If you have Smartphone or navigation system, you can find ZOB am Hackerbrucke using these GPS co-ordinates 48.142489, 11.549886.

Munich ZOB Hackerbruecke

The Munich HBF (Main train station) is about 400 meters from the bus terminal, the “S-Bahn” (City train system) stops at the Hackerbrucke S-station. On Arnulfstraße at the opposite site of the ZOB terminal you have trams running, tram NR 16 or 17 stops there.

If are going to the station by car, you have the following parking options: The first options is a »Kiss-&-Ride« Zone where there is about 60 short term parking spaces (fees apply), these parking spaces can reach from the Arnulfstraße 17. Second parking option is a garage below the ZOB this garage can be access from Bernhard-Wicki-Straße 11, also here fees apply.

To get to Vrsar you should travel to Rovinj and take local bus from there. From Pula, you can reach Medulin and Fazana with local bus, and from Porec, you can easily travel to destinations like, Novigrad, Umag and Motovun.

Bus from Vienna to Croatia

From Vienna you have several daily bus departures towards destinations in Croatia, the buses the departure from the VIB bus terminal (Vienna International Busterminal), which is located Erdbergstraße 200 A, 1030 Wien, (by U3 Erdberg) If you are not familiar with Vienna and especially the VIB terminal, we recommend that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the departure of the international bus. In the area of the bus station, you have plenty of options to grab a bite of food or a cop of coffee.

If you have navigation, you should travel to this GPS co-ordinates, 48.191628, 16.413253 which is close to where you will find the bus. The buses are parked on the highway bridge, which crosses the Erdbergstraße, you will for sure find it.

With the Subway line U3 it takes about 10-15 minutes to get from the centre of Vienna to the terminal, if you arrive with car, there is a park and ride garage, jus next to the subway station

Bus from Lucerne to Croatia

If you travel from Lucerne in Switzerland to any town in Croatia, your bus will depart from the Bus terminal at Inseliquai 10 which is close to the Lucerne train station. As the area can be a bit confusing, we recommend you arrive at the station 30 minutes before the departure of your bus.

If you have a phone with GPS, these co-ordinates should take you to approximate location of the bus 47.049357, 8.313985 (Just copy them to Google maps)

You can also try to find the address Inseliquai 10, 6005 Lucerne, or alternatively Europaplatz. If you arrive there by local bus or train you will probably be at the Bahnhofplatz, which is about 3-400 metres from Inseliquai 10.

Bus from Bern to Croatia

From Bern there are several bus departures towards Croatia, all the buses depart from the from Carparkplatz – Car-Terminal Neufeld, which is located close to the highway exit Bern-Neufeld, the address is Studerstrasse, 3004 Bern, but as the street is quite long, you should look for the place where the Tiefenausstrasse goes under Studerstrasse. There are signs to the Car Terminal but it can still be a bit confusing finding the right place, so we recommend you go to the place 30 minutes before your bus is scheduled to depart.

If you use navigation, the following GPS co-ordinates 46.963670, 7.433724 should take you to where the bus should be parked, ask to be sure once you get there.

Park and Ride Neufeld Bern

From the train station in Bern, there are frequent city buses to the Car Terminal Neufeld, travel time is about 15 minutes, from where the buses stop you have only a few hundred meters to where the buses to Croatia depart.

All buses depart from the bus station “bus and carparkplatz am Sihlquai”, (which is surrounded by the streets, Sihlquai, Ausstellungsstrasse and Limmatstrasse.), the bus station is location close to the centre of town, it can easily be reach with tram line 4 and 17.

Line 3 – Zurich – Istria

The Zurich Istria line only runs in the peak season, outside of main season you will have to travel Zurich to Rijeka, and then take a local bus for the last part of the trip.

The bus routes are driven as pool routes, where more bus companies for Switzerland and Croatia jointly operate the route. On the bus it is normally clearly marked that the bus is going to destinations in Croatia.

Where to catch the bus from Venice to Croatia?

The buses from Venice to either of the above mentioned cities departure from one of the following stations.

  • People mover station, which is located fairly close to the old town of Venice on the “Isola Nova”, which is by the train station Tronchetto. Make sure to be at the station in do time, so you have time to find the exact departure point of bus.
  • By the Mestre train station, which is situated on the mainland. From the Venice old town you can reach the Mestre station by frequent community trains, travel time to the station is about 10-12 minutes.

As not all buses departure from both stations, you should search for buses from both stations to your destination in Croatia. Just type in Venice in the search form above and you will be able to pick either Venice (People mover) or Venice Mestre as your departure station.

What does it cost to travel from Venice to Croatia?

Bus from Germany to Croatia

From Germany there are about 20 weekly bus departures to Zagreb and other cities in Croatia, the most frequent operated route is a daily departure from Frankfurt to Zupanja, this line goes via Zagreb. Driving time from Frankfurt to Zagreb is about 16 hours.

From Stuttgart (Oberturkheim) there is two daily departure to Zagreb (The above mentioned line + other line), driving time from Stuttgart to Zagreb is 12 hours.

The Frankfurt route goes via Mannheim, Karlruhe, Pforzheim, Stuttgart, Ulm and Munich. The Stuttgart route goes via Ulm and Munich.

From as far north as Hamburg, there is departure twice a week, the driving time from Hamburg to Zagreb is about 30 hours, this bus goes via Hannover, Hildesheim, Goettingen, Kassel, Nuremberg, Ingolstadt and Munich, from Zagreb the bus continues to Zupanja.

From Berlin there are two weekly bus departures to Osijek via Zagreb, driving time form Berlin to Zagreb is about 18 hours.

From Zagreb you can easily continue your travel to any city in Croatia, especially to the large cities like, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik, there are plenty of daily bus connection.

Bus Italy to Croatia

The northern part of Italy is very well connected to the northern and western part of Croatia. Especially between Istrian town and Venice, there are several connection trough out the year.

Here is a information about the most popular routes:

From Venice to Pula, there are several routes running whole year, as well as a few additional lines in the main season, in Italy you can also board the bus in Mestre and Trieste. Depending on departure you can exit the bus in the following Croatian towns, Buzet, Pazin, Rovinj, Pula and Medulin. From Trieste there are whole year running buses lines down the west coast of Istria and to Rijeka, during summer season, additional lines are available. The travel time from Trieste to Pula is about 3.5 hours and from Trieste to Rijeka about 2.5 hours. You can see timetable for buses from Trieste to Pula here, and here to Rijeka. During Summer season there is also a Night bus to the dalmatian coast, which means you can travel Trieste to Zadar or Trieste Split as well as to other cities like Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski or Sibenik

From Rome there is a weekly bus to Zagreb, the bus drives from Rome on Saturdays, the route to Zagreb goes via, Florence, Bologna, Padua and Venice, travel time from Rome to Zagreb is about 15 hours and from Venice to Zagreb about 6 hours. From Torino there is also a weekly connection running on Saturdays, this bus goes via Milan, Bergamo, Brescia and Verona to Padua, where it meets with the bus from Rome, passengers are loaded on to one bus, which then continues to Zagreb.

From Milan there are several daily departures to Zagreb, as well as a night bus to Rijeka and cities on the Kvarner and Dalmatian Cost, the travel time between between e.g Milan and Zadar is about 9 hours and 30 minute, between Milan and Split travel time is about 12 hours.

All weekdays except Friday there is a bus starting in Verona and a bus starting in Bologna, both buses meet in Padua, from there on one bus continues to Zagreb, via Venice.

Bus Croatia to Montenegro

If you are on holiday in Croatia, and wish to visit or continue your travel to the neighbouring country Montenegro you can do so with direct public bus. Whole year around there are buses from Dubrovnik to towns like, Budva, Kotor and Bar in Montenegro, in the summer season, there are additional departures from Dubrovnik as well as daily buses from Zadar*, Zagreb* and Split*.

The travel time from Dubrovnik to e.g. Kotor 2.5 hours, from Split about 7 hours, from Zadar about 9 hours and from Zagreb a bit more than 12 hours, depending on which departure you travel on. You have option to exit the bus in the following cities in Montenegro, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj. Obviously you also have daily buses travelling in the opposite direction.

Alternative to the direct buses mentioned, you can basically arrange travel from any other city in Croatia, doing so you will have to take bus from your starting point to Split or even better to Dubrovnik, and then change to one of the buses driving to Montenegro. Please note that the Dubrovnik buses all departure from the main bus station and not from the airport.

Bus Croatia to Macedonia

Did you know you can actually travel from various Croatian towns, to Skopje, Tetovo and Gostivar in Macedonia, each Wednesday and Saturday, there is a direct bus from Novigrad in Istria with end station in Gostivar in Macedonia, and the bus goes in the opposite direction on Thursdays and Sundays.

From Dalmatia there is also a direct route to Struga, Kicevo, Gustivar, Tetovo and Skopje, this routes drives each Thursday and Sunday from Split via Dubrovnik. The returning bus from Skopje to Split, departures each Wednesday and Saturday. The end to end travel time from Split to Skopje is about 18 hours.
